Pangolin Mammal of Asia and Africa. This toothless mammal has a long slender tongue used to catch insects, especially termites. The upper parts of the body, the outsides of the limbs, and the entire length, is covered with horny overlapping scales; the undersides of the body is sparsely haired.

It rolls into a compact ball resembling a large pine cone and secretes and the acrid fluid when attacked. Also called the scaly anteater.
